Finally I had the time and mood to test out those not so new anymore Speedpaints from The Army Painter. And guess what? They really speed up the process!
To have a very strong contrast here I painted very old metal Death Cult Assassin models with those 2021 released paints.
The recipe was pretty easy: Basecoat black, then drybrush with some grey of your choice and then higher parts on the upper side of the miniature with a brighter grey, to get that zenithal highlight effect later (for example you can use Mechanicus Standard Grey and then Celesia Grey).
The main body parts I painted with a slightly diluted Hive Dweller Purple Speedpaint. Cloth parts with undiluted Blood Red Speedpaint. For the face and hands I used Crusader Skin Speedpaint and the sword blades (which are supposed to look poisoned) were painted with Orc Skin Speedpaint.
Now I just had to paint the lenses and the base and boom – finished. Seven miniatures that were in my pile of shame for ages finished in under 2 hours.
They may not be suitable for every painting situation but yes – I like the Army Painter Speedpaints.
